Golden Apple Scholars Program

A pre-service teaching program with up to $28,000 in financial aid for students who plan on teaching as a career.  Recipients must finish their bachelor’s degree, obtain an Illinois teaching certificate and teach for five years in an Illinois school of need.  Students must be nominated.l  Nominations begin in March of a student’s JUNIOR year in high school.  Additional information is available here.  This scholarship has a December deadline.

Toyota Community Scholars program

Toyota offers renewable scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $20,000.  Applicants must possess an outstanding academic record, be an effective leader, and have a well-documented record of service both within and outside the school setting, and have initiated or be actively involved in a service program addressing a school or community need.  Apply here.

Coca-Cola Scholars program

Four-year scholarships ranging from $4000 to $20,000 awarded by the Coca-Cola Company based upon a number of factors, with special emphasis on character, leadership in school, civic, and other extracurricular activities, academic achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed in all endeavors. All applicants must register online here.  This scholarship has an October deadline.

Horatio Alger Scholarship

Students must demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required).  Student must be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and be a U.S. citizen.  Please click here for application.

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships awards renewable scholarships to students with financial need.  Applicants can be those planning on full-time or part-time college attendance, and who have an annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000 or less.  Awards range from $750 to $1500 annually.  Additionally, the organization targets 50% of all scholarships to students with a physical disability or of a recognized minority group.  Information and application are available here.  This scholarship has an October deadline.

AES Engineering Scholarship

AES Engineering-belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped.  For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study.  The award is available for high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.  Amount of award is $500.00. Acorn Equality Fund Scholarship

The Acorn Fund Scholarship is designed to provide academic financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender students or the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender parents.  There are two scholarships, one based upon academic, volunteerism, and advocacy.  Scholarships are awarded based upon academic performance and an essay and range from $1,000 to $4,500.  Additional information and applications are available hereThis scholarship has a September deadline.
