The Best Buy Company awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. Applicants will initially be evaluated on their level of volunteer service, as well as the student’s academic achievement, work experience, school activities, statement of goals, and an outside appraisal. Four $1,750 scholarships will be awarded. Two to children of current patrons (defined as a producer who sells milk to Prairie Farms Dairy) of the Prairie Farms Dairy and two to children of current employees of the Prairie Farms Dairy. Applicants must attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and major in agriculture, be actively involved in production agriculture in a family farm operation, and be a current or former 4-H member. Applicants must attend a post-secondary institution in the state of Illinois (including junior colleges and trade schools) and working toward an occupation in an ag-related field. This program is a nomination-based award, and only one student per school may be nominated by their principal or guidance counselor. Leaders and Achievers, funded through the Comcast Foundation, recognizes high school seniors from Comcast communities for their commitment to community service, academics and demonstrated leadership. To acknowledge these accomplishments, Leaders and Achievers students are awarded one-time scholarships, with a base award of $1,000. Students who are interested to be nominated for this scholarship need to turn in a resume or information for recommendation sheet to the counseling office specifically highlighting community service involvement and leadership abilities through high school experience. One $300 scholarship will be awarded. Applicant’s parents must be Illinois Farm Bureau members who live on and operate a farm and must attend Southern Illinois University College of Agriculture majoring in any course except horses, floriculture, or forestry. Apply here.

This professional organization presents $500 to $5,000 scholarships to students planning on a career in education.
