Dallas Koth led the boys golf team to a first place finish at the 24-team Raider/Redbird Classic at Weibring Golf Club on Tuesday. He shot a 2-under-par 69, taking second place individually. Team members Ethan Huynh finished in seventh with a 74 and Brevin Knight tied for eighth with a 75. Way to go Pioneers!
The U-High boys golf team finished in first place at the 18-team Peoria Notre Dame Invitational held at the Kellogg Golf Course in Peoria. The team was led by Dallas Koth who finish in second place individually with a 6-under-par 66. Tony Palumbo tied for fourth with a 74, Ben Bazan tied for eighth with a 75 and Alex Kullman and Brevin Knight shot 81s. Congratulations guys!
The first day of school is Friday, August 18. The day will begin at 8am for all students with an assembly in Stroud Auditorium. The last class (8th period) will end at 1:00 pm. A complete schedule is available here.
The U-High boys golf team kicked off the season with a third placed finish on Thursday at the High School Showcase at Senica’s Deer Park Golf Club in Oglesby. The team was led by Tony Palumbo and Dallas Koth who each shot a 1-over-par 72 and the team shot a 300 total. Tony ended up finishing in 7th place and Dallas finished in 9th place overall. Congrats and good luck this season guys!

This month, students from U-High and the area competed in the Annual National NAACP ACT-SO Competition in Baltimore, MD. They competed along with 700 talented youth from across the US. U-High senior Jordyn Blythe brought home a gold medal in oratory speaking! We are very proud of Jordyn and extend our sincere congratulations to her!
The National Speech and Debate Association has named recent graduates Colin Hardman, Justin Maaks, Alex Plumadore and Austin Spaulding Academic All Americans! This coveted award recognizes academic rigor, competitive success and personal excellence. Less than 500 out of 141,000 students earn this award each year. This accomplishment places these students among the top half of one-percent of all student members across the country. Congratulations to our students and their success!

U-High was well represented at this year’s National Speech and Debate Tournament in Alabama. James Han brought home a first place finish in extemporaneous commentary at the event. Caroline Pickering and Natalie Thomison finished in second and fourth place, respectively, in expository speaking. U-High had an additional two students finish in the top 60 and four were semi-finalists. The Pioneers were represented by a record 16 students who attending the tournament that involved more than 1,100 schools. Congratulations to James, Caroline, Natalie and all our students who participated in this year’s national speech and debate tournament!
