The U-High girls soccer team enjoyed a 7-2 victory over host East Moline on Thursday. Sarah LaFayette led the Pioneers with six goals. Advika Kamatar also scored for U-High. The Pioneers outshot East Moline 13-9. The team’s record is now 9-6-1. Way to go ladies!
The U-High softball team defeated Pontiac 1-0 on Wednesday in Corn Belt Conference play. The scoring run for the Pioneers came thanks to Makaylea Sepich’s walk off single in the bottom of the 14th inning. Congratulations ladies!

This past Saturday was the annual Bloomington-Normal Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) Competition. This event is the youth initiative of the NAACP. The purpose is to encourage academic and cultural excellence among African-American youth. We are proud to congratulate U-High students Jordyn Blythe, Boston Cooper and Elijah King on their awards at this event. Jordyn was selected as the Gold Medal Winner in the Music Instrumental-Classical and Oratory contest. Boston was the Gold Medal Winner in Entrepreneurship. Finally, Elijah was the Gold Medal Winner in Architecture. These three students are now eligible to attend the National NAACP ACT-SO Competition held in Baltimore this July. Congratulations to Jordyn, Boston and Elijah!
The U-High boys track and field team claimed third place at this year’s Intercity Meet with 71 points. Jared Schuckman was a double winner in both the 800 and the 1600. Other top finishers included Jack Franklin in the 3200, Caleb Diffor in the triple jump and the 3200 relay team of Jackson McClure, Matthew Zacharias, Grayson Will and Jack Martin. Congratulations Pioneers!
The U-High baseball team defeated Pontiac 19-5 on Tuesday at Pontiac. The highlight of the game was the 3-run homers from both Billy and Jacob Mote. The team is now 13-6, 5-1. Way to go Pioneers!
The 28th annual Intercity Girls Track Meet was held on Monday at Central Catholic. With 118 points, the U-High girls claimed the title! First place finishes went to Katy Clausen (1,600 and 3,200), Lauren Seaver (pole vault), Brianna Pinter (long jump) and the 3,200 relay team of Ally Shepherd, Lauren Brown, Olivia Shouse and Emmy Mussey. Congratulations Pioneers!
The U-High baseball team defeated Prairie Central 10-0 on Monday at Duffy Bass Field in a six inning shut out! Ryan Poland scattered three hits, Jake Armstrong had two hits with two RBIs and John Merna drove in three runs. The team is now 12-6, 4-1. Congratulations guys!

The U-High baseball team participated in the Pleasant Plains Tournament this weekend. The team finished 2-1. The Pioneers defeated Williamsville 3-2 and Pleasant Plains 5-4. The team’s overall record is now 11-6. Congratulations guys!
