Ron Brown Scholar Program

This national program awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated African-American students.  The scholarships are worth $10,000 annually for up to $40,000.  Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential, make an impact on their communities through service to others, and demonstrate financial need.  Apply here.  Deadline is January 9th.

Hy Vee foundation Scholarship Program

$1,000 scholarships available to high-school seniors and college students.  Applicant must be a high-school senior working for Hy-Vee or subsidiary who began employment on or before September 15th or a high school senior son and/or daughter of a full-, regular-, or part-time Hy Vee or subsidary employee who has a minimum of six months employment as of September 15, and applicant must be enrolling in college for the first time.  Apply here.

Wendys Heisman Scholarship

is looking for all types of high-achieving seniors from more than 29,000 public and private high schools within the U.S.  They consider young men and women who participate in a wide range of sports as well as school and community activities.  Must have a cumulative high school GPA of a B (3.0) or higher.  Apply hereThe application deadline is October 4.

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award

The National Federation of Independent Business offers the $1,000 scholarship to recognize students who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit/initiative, such as starting his/her own business, participation organizations such as DECA, Future Business leaders of America, Junior Achievement, along others or through other initiatives.  Applicants must locate a dues-paying member of the NFIB for nomination following the completion of application materials and an essay. This scholarship has a December deadline.   Application is available here.

Golden Apple Scholars Program

A pre-service teaching program with up to $28,000 in financial aid for students who plan on teaching as a career.  Recipients must finish their bachelor’s degree, obtain an Illinois teaching certificate and teach for five years in an Illinois school of need.  Students must be nominated.l  Nominations begin in March of a student’s JUNIOR year in high school.  Additional information is available here.  This scholarship has a December deadline.

Toyota Community Scholars program

Toyota offers renewable scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $20,000.  Applicants must possess an outstanding academic record, be an effective leader, and have a well-documented record of service both within and outside the school setting, and have initiated or be actively involved in a service program addressing a school or community need.  Apply here.
