All teachers and students have access to Blackboard course management software. Most faculty have set up course “shells”  that provide students access to syllabi, handouts, quizzes, images, video clips, web links and other traditional materials. Blackboard has proven to be very intuitive for teachers to learn, making the initial setup workload for teachers very reasonable. More importantly, as the years pass, teachers save time as course materials from previous years are already available in their shells.

Because all teachers use the same platform, they have been able to easily share ideas for ways to utilize other Blackboard tools:

-group chats
-class calendars which link directly to assignment materials
-discussion boards
-easy ways to share links to images, videos and online resources
-class blogs and wikis
-journals which teachers can provide feedback on
-the assignment submit feature, which provides a permanent record of an assignment submission, as well as teacher feedback
