U-High seeks students of all backgrounds and identities and experience hands-on innovative learning. Each freshman class is comprised of approximately 160 students and upperclass students are also encouraged to apply.

The University Laboratory Schools, Thomas Metcalf and University High School, provide educational opportunities for preschool through twelfth-grade students.

Extracurricular Activities

U-High has 9 girls sports, 3 co-ed sports, 9 boys sports, 12 competitive activitities, camps, and nearly 50 clubs.

  • Students have multiple path to success by taking classes through Bloomington Career Academy, Heartland (dual credit), and Illinois State (dual credit)
  • Students can earn their Associates degree from HCC during high school
  • Shadow a professional through our internship program your senior year
  • Take fields trips to explore careers

Shadow Experience

Prospective students can opt to spend a full or fall day with a current U-High student

  • Incoming 8th grade students will shadow a current U-High freshman
  • Upperclassmen students will shadow a current U-High upperclass student
