Teacher Education
Each semester, hundreds of students from ISU complete clinical experiences in our building working closely with our teachers and their participating course faculty on campus. To help make clinical experiences as valuable as possible, we’ve assembled the information you need here.
Preparing for the Classroom
University High School supports continuous growth through additional clinical experiences. Many ISU departments use U-High as a clinical partner for observations through student teaching. If you are interested in partnering with us, contact Vickie Graziano.
Internships
Illinois State University’s Internship Program at University High School gives secondary education majors a full year of hands-on experience, leading up to student teaching in the second semester. Internships are available in the subjects of Art, Business, Counseling, English, Foreign Language, Math, Music, Science, and Social Science.
TCH 216
How the TCH 216 experience works
The TCH experience for students begins with enrollment in 216 classes at the College of Education.
Next students are assigned a participating teacher at U-High (or Metcalf), and they attend an initial overview session at U-High early in the semester at which next steps will be presented.
TCH 216 Professional Development Sessions
There are no PD sessions scheduled at this time.
If you have any questions or miss the deadline, please contact Dr. Vickie Graziano or your CT.
Further information
During the experience, students are assessed on professionalism, final exam/portfolio projects, classroom planning documents, microteaching, and clinical experiences.

FAQs
How do I get to UHS?
Where can I park?
How do I get inside UHS?
How do I get around in UHS?
How do I get involved in UHS sports or clubs?
One of the best ways to get involved in assisting coaches or club sponsors is to contact the activities and athletic director, Steve Evans at (309) 438-7373. Be persistent if you do not get in touch immediately — things can get busy in the athletics office. You can also feel free to seek out a coach yourself.
